OMCC Update

Christmas Greetings OMCC Member!

Just a quick message to wish you all the best for the festive season, and mention a few thoughts for the New Year.

Membership.  Remember that your membership will reset at the turn of the year, so to get access to any of 2016 events, we'll want some more cash off you!

Offroad.  We have a full programme of events for 2016, with a few new venues…more to come in the meantime, but the first date for your diary is the 10th January, at J1.  It'll be free of charge, as long as you're a paid-up (2016) OMCC member.  You'll also need to have 'bought' an offroad place to let us know you'll be turning up.

New Year Do.  The traditional Christmas Do will be on (Sat) the 23rd January at the Mill House, North Warnborough.  There's a post on the forum (under Social), so if you want to come along, you'll need to be a (2016) paid-up member, and have posted your details on the forum.

Oulton Park.  There has been a slight date change for the Oulton Park track day.  It's been confirmed as the 7th and 8th of June 2016.  MSV have yet to confirm their 2016 prices, so we can't launch the event yet.  However, watch this space!

Finally, the 2016 ARD dates are 24th April, 17th July and 18th September.

Have a great festive period and we'll see you in 2016 refreshed!

-    We are now firmly back in the Offroad season (bloomin' freezing today...). The next event is the 8th November.

-    Forthcoming Ring of Red around the M25 event.  Please check the forum...

-    Finally, and most importantly, we are having to slip the next Club meeting a week to the 11th November due to unavoidable circumstances. It'll be the Annual General Meeting, so please come along.

All for now

OMCC Update

Dear Member,

Just a quick update from the OMCC about the forthcoming ARD.

September ARD:
-  The entry lists will close on the 13th Sep (next Sunday), so no changes will be done to them after that.
-  Entry will be via the Camp Main Gate.  Please take note of the entry times, as these are hard times, and no entry will be permitted before/after them.  Please drive considerately through the Married Quarters and have photo ID with you.
-  The guards may (randomly) decide to search your vehicle on entry; is it a condition of entry that you agree to the search; it should not unduly delay you.
-  Stef is unavailable due to an operation, so we will NOT have Tyre Services available.
-  The Girls from Fresh Orange are not able to attend.  Photography will ONLY be permitted from the spectator area due to health and safety criteria.
-  If you are available to help with the set up on the Saturday, it should only take about 1 hour; if you can help, please assemble at the Main Gate at 5 pm.

See you in a couple of weeks...

Cheers

Doug.

OMCC Update

Dear Member,

Offroad.  Firstly, I can confirm that the Offroad event for this Sunday at Bordon WILL GO AHEAD.  Apologies for the time it's taken to sort it, but Bob has lost more of his (reducing) hair in the process of sorting the licence out than he could afford.  To make up for it, the Offroad boys have pledged to make it up to any Mothers who can make it along…..

Cadwell Park Reserve List.  For those of you don't like rushing your purchases, and so missed the opportunity to book onto the Cadwell Park trackday, the reserve list will open this Saturday (14th March).  I can't give you an exact time for the list opening as the Webmaster is busy during the day with an Angelcynn Albannaich Proelium.  Anyway, he's pledged to sort it before the day is done, so keep an eye out.  The way the list will work is as follows:

-       Reserve places will be available to 'purchase' (on the Members-only page), albeit at no cost.

-       Those who book onto the Reserve list will appear on the Events page (in booking order).

-       Should a reserve place become available, the next lucky candidate will be sent an invoice for a place at the event.  They will have 5 days to complete the invoice; if they don't, the invoice will be cancelled and the invoice will be sent to the next Reserve list candidate.

-       Upon payment of the invoice, your name will appear on the Main list.

-       The Reserve list will close a few days before the event.

-       Good luck.

Member Profiles.  I mentioned in a previous periodic that we needed you to complete the details on your Member Profile, such as preferred group and number or track days, etc…  Well, there are still a large number of you who haven't; this will mean that when we compile the group lists for the April ARD and Cadwell, we will have to guess/draw straws, etc.. and there is a risk that the wrong people will be in the wrong groups, with little time to sort it out.  So, please, please, please log in and check that your details are entered in your Profile.  Thank you.

Finally, we are looking at dates for the Mopedathon in August; more to follow……

All for now….

OMCC Update

Dear Member,

Periodic update with news from the Club.

Firstly, some of you will have noticed that the April ARD sold out in record quick time.  We've been trialling a new booking-in system, whereby we will allocate you to a group dependant on your preference and experience.  The data for this will come from your Membership Profile.  Our WebWaster was tweeking the forms and found that they needed some slight changes.  As a result, all of the extant submitted information has been deleted.  To that end, if you see the entry list, you will note that we don't have the required data to compile the lists (This is also the case for Cadwell Park); so, please log on and check that your Membership Profile has got the info on it (if you haven't done this recently, it'll need to be done again). If you don't do this, there's a strong chance that you'll be allocated to the wrong group…..Thank you..

Secondly, we're running a Biker-Down first-aid training course at Odiham on Sunday the 22nd March.  It'll be an excellent opportunity to learn how to save a fellow biker's life, should you ever be in the unfortunate position to have to.  It'll cost you the princely sum of £2, which is just to cover tea/coffees etc…  I'm sure that anybody who has done it will agree with me that it's essential for all bikers to do this course.

We are in discussion with Silverstone about the MotoGp trip, with a Club trip in mind.

Finally, there are still some places on the Bemsee Marshalling course at Brands Hatch on the 21st Feb.  It's free to come along to be part of the Orange Army!

More info on the above on the forum…..see you soon!

Important OMCC Message

Dear OMCC Members,

Quick message, so please take 30 seconds to read this.

Firstly, Offroad.  Despite our best efforts, it looks like Landmarc will not be issuing a licence for the offroad event planned for this Sunday, the 8th February.  If you don't hear anything else (I'll email you again if necessary on Friday evening), you can assume that the event is CANCELLED.  We are really sorry if it messes you about, but we are doing everything we can to make it happen.

Next, if you are interested in riding in this year's No Budget Cup and have not been assessed for suitability, the first opportunity will be the first Airfield Riding Day on the 19th April.  Get in touch in advance to let us know.  As a minimum, you should (probably) be comfortable riding in the Experienced group.

Finally, the entry list for the April 19th Airfield Riding Day has been activated and is open for business…..so don't wait and risk missing out…..

All for now….

OMCC Late January Periodic

The last couple of weeks have been busier than usual for the OMCC Committee.  Having launched Cadwell, we were somewhat surprised at the speed that it sold out; 70 hours for 117 places is a record for us!  We are sorry that some of you have missed out, but when market forces worked like they do, there's not a lot else we can do.  The 'first-come, first-served' option appears to be the fairest system.  It might be reassurance that some might have to cancel, so a reserve list will be established in due course; I'll let you know as and when.  I was asked if we could run a 2nd 'commercial event'; however, the demands of the Inland Revenue and VAT registration preclude that, so it'll just be one event per year.

We were also busy badgering the Station for dates for the Airfield Riding Days.  They have now been confirmed as:

19th April
19th July
20th September.

I don't know yet when the April event will be opened up, so keep an eye on these comms; however, it could be as early as the first week of Feb.

We've also been doing some work trying to sort the Off-road programme.  Landmarc, who administer the land, have been doing an excellent job messing us around, and both Bob Ruffles and I have lost sleep/hair in the process of trying to sort a coherent programme.  It also didn't help that the excellent site at Bagshot has been removed from use due to damage to the site; hopefully it'll be back on the programme late next year.  However, we have recced another site in Bordon, which is predominately mud, which we'll alternate with Slab Common for this year.  We are still looking for other sites, but there a not many available.  Watch this space....

Finally, hopefully we'll see a number of you at this weekend's Christmas do, in North Warnborough…

OMCC January 2015 Periodic Part 2

Hi again! As promised, I said that I would follow up my last periodic
with an update when I had more info.

Forthcoming events:

Vines (BMW Guildford) Open Evening. 21st Jan. Cost: Free. More
details on the Forum.

ExCEL show. 13th Feb. There's transport from RAF Odiham (and return);
0730 depart; Cost: £10 to members. More details on the forum.

Bemsee Marshalling Course. 21st Feb; Brands Hatch; Transport from RAF
Odiham (and return); 0700 depart. Cost: FREE. A well-worthwhile course
to do. It's a full day, but you will end up a fully qualified race
marshal. More details on the forum.

Cadwell Park 2-day track day. 17th and 18th June. Cost: £165 which
includes free camping on the nights of the 16th and 17th Jun, 14 track
sessions, free instruction (available). The Clubhouse will be available
on the evening of the 17th for food/drink (at your own cost). BOOKING
IS OPEN ON THE WEBSITE.

We have made an important change to the booking procedure. You need to
update your Profile on the Forum as when you book in for Cadwell/an
Airfield Riding Day, you no longer get to choose your group. Your OMCC
Forum profile should include information that will enable the event
administrators to allocate you to an appropriate group. The benefits of
the new system are that it will enable us to reduce the number of people
in the wrong group (mainly Experienced riders who wait so long to book
that the only places left are in the Novice group) and better reallocate
available places from Cancellations. To that end, once the list fills
up, a reserve list will be set up. Remember to check the T&Cs before
booking, but don't delay, as the list is already half-full.

Offroad. Still some work to do for the Ofroad, so nothing definitive to
tell you yet about this year's calendar.

My next periodic will hopefully be soon, with (hopefully) confirmed
dates for the ARDs and an Offroad programme.

Cheers, Ride Safe!

OMCC January 2015 Periodic

OMCC Jan 15 Periodic

Well firstly, a Happy New Year to you all. Hopefully the festive season
was kind to you all and you are planning your biking year to be better
than ever.

The first bit of news is a reminder for you all to renew your membership
(Subs due from the 1st Jan). When you do, you'll notice a snazzy
updated website (OMCC are not immune from the latest trends, thank you
to the WebMaster).

We are busy trying to finalise the 2015 calendar. However, some of the
disciplines have been proving frustrating to sort.

Firstly, Offroad. Despite the best efforts of Tony and Bob, Landmarc
have given us the complete run-around. To that end, I will be pressing
them next Monday to provide us with a coherent list. However, in the
meantime, we have had to conclude that running an Offroad event in
January would not be possible, so we have had to cancel it. This is
especially disappointing noting the runaway success of the December
event. Rest assured that we will do our utmost to ensure that the
February event will be better than ever…

Next Cadwell Park. Better news; the dates of 17th and 18th June are
booked. However, MSV will not be formalising their prices until the 5th
Jan (next Monday). To that end, once we have sorted all of the
requisite details, the event will be launched on the Website (remember
you have to be a member to book up….).

Finally, the Airfield Riding Days. The RAF Odiham Airfield Manager has
yet to finalise the 2015 airfield usage calendar; however, the meeting
to sort this is due in the next few weeks. As soon as the dates (3
ARDs) are sorted, we'll let you know.

My next periodic should follow within a week or so, when I will give you
more details of some/all of the events, coupled with significant changes
to the way places for Cadwell Park and the ARDs will be booked.

Another date for your diary is the Christmas function, on Saturday the
24th Jan; full details on the forum.

The first meeting of the year will be next Wednesday, the 7th Jan. See
you there.

Remember that there will not be an Offroad event in January.
